APRIL

We all love pranks, but where did it all come from?

As a young baby at the age of 0-2, you most likely don't know what April Fools is. At this age, your parents are most likely using you to improve their popularity on social media. Don't worry; it's not all bad! This might eventually lead you to get into the baby modeling business if you're fortunate. As an added benefit, your parents might be happy with their new gains and raise you to be a better child. At 3, the same thing would probably happen to you at the ages 0-2, except you can probably run a bit and would be taken out for candy. However, your candy will probably be hidden so that you don't get crazy or cavities. At 4, with your increasingly developed walking and speaking skills. You can share your demands freely in hopes of more candy. At this point, your memory is most likely developed, and you will be able to enjoy your time spent trick or treating as you grow older. Your strength most likely increased as well and can throw tantrums, but hopefully, you were raised better. At 5, you are probably in Kindergarten and can, therefore, invite friends to trick or treat with you. However, this is ultimately dependent on the parents. Assuming they accepted, you may have the time of your life running around getting free candy while wearing spooky costumes. Talking about costumes, you will probably spend some time shouting out the names of characters or monsters that seem familiar when walking around the streets, laughing happily if they say something like "it's me" or get confirmation from someone else. You were probably also able to choose your own costume this time and say "Trick or treat" when asking for candy." At 6-7, it's probably going to be the same as it's been as the past years, with the increased ability to choose where to go and what to do. At 8 and 9 you'll probably stop going way earlier than everyone else like you did when you were younger, which means you miss out on getting more candy, but you get to have more fun while running around in the night with your parents chasing after you; or not if they don't allow you to. At ten years, you have achieved the age where you become a pro-trick-or-treater. The little kids have no chance against you. With your newfound skills, you will surely be the star of the show.

The holiday is celebrated by many, and it has a great idea behind it, but even if it is highly celebrated, the holiday seems forgetful at times. Sure, April Fools is probably better as a quieter holiday, since it's about giving thanks, but that idea is sometimes masked. Black Friday usually clouds the concept of April Fools because stores have started sales earlier throughout the years, and they have reached the point where they have started selling items on Thursday, sometimes even the whole day. This causes many people to lose time to celebrate April Fools, although some buyers may have been non-celebrators. People have also started to use the name Grey Thursday or Black Thursday at times (not to be confused with other uses of Black Thursday). Even I used the name "Black Thursday" last year, not knowing that the name had already been used, to joke at the fact that many store workers told me at the time (Black Friday, 2018) that their items have "sold out yesterday" or "those sold out on Thursday" and then proceeding to tip me with, "you should have come yesterday."
