Breakfast
for the Body and Mind
A healthy breakfast is something that many people nowadays skip. And if you’re familiar with the saying “breakfast is the most important meal of the day,” then you might advise against skipping breakfast. There have been many studies in the past that either support or argue against the hypothesized health benefits of eating breakfast, but the importance of breakfast still seems obscure at times. Many studies point out the better condition of people who eat breakfast compared to those who don’t. However, as many people point out, this doesn’t take into account any overall “better” lifestyle choices of people who eat breakfast. It’s commonly found that whether or not you should eat breakfast depends on your own lifestyle.
Weight Correlation
Different sources say different things about how breakfast affects weight. Some people say it increases weight gain while others say it increases weight loss. The reasoning for weight loss is that by eating breakfast, you neutralize hunger earlier on and are therefore less likely to eat junk food or overeat in a later meal. The reasoning for weight gain is that by eating breakfast, you are breaking your postprandial fast in which your body is consuming it’s fat during your sleep. They say that when you eat, you’re causing insulin to start controlling your blood sugar again and therefore stopping weight-loss. However, some people saying that breakfast increases weight gain say that you should eat breakfast when you are hungry (if it reaches lunch-time, then you skipped breakfast). If you’re hungry right when you wake up, then eat.
Weight Loss
If you want to lose weight, then you may take lowering your daily food consumption into consideration. The thing is, will it help you? If you try skipping breakfast and then end up eating more lunch, dinner, or snacks than usual, then skipping breakfast probably isn’t for you. You’d be increasing the amount of calories you take in for the amount lost by skipping breakfast. If you don’t eat an increased amount of food to make up for breakfast, then go for it. The thing is that there will most likely be a decrease in the nutrients you get. You may need to start eating more nutritious food or vitamins with your meals to make up for it. However, you can still lose weight without skipping breakfast. You just have to have a healthier lifestyle, including exercise.
How-to-Healthy
A healthy breakfast is said to include four things: Whole grain, lean protein, low-fat milk, and fruits/vegetables. Many foods can provide this for you, and you can even make a plan for what to eat.. The usual breakfast for a lot of people, especially when younger, is cereal. There are many kinds of cereal out there, but it’s recommended to get cereal with low saturated fat and sugars, but a good amount of fiber (Mayo Clinic recommends at least 3 grams).
Good For School
A benefit of eating breakfast is that students will work more efficiently in school. While hungry, students may get distracted from work, even if for just a moment. This can cause them to be unable to put as much effort in as they would be able to with a full stomach. Some classes don’t allow food or drinks in class because it would pose a distraction, and it would, but not eating poses one as well. Some people may be able to get to lunch without complaining, but not everyone can do that. Just as in school, this can also apply to work. A bit of energy can also get a sleepy person running, for a bit that is.
By just searching up “healthy breakfast,” you can find many examples of, well, a healthy breakfast. There may be things that you don’t like, but you can always make your own combination of food. But if you’re really trying to eat healthily, you should establish a diet and research the food you want to make. I, however, will stick to Nutella spread on a whole wheat slice of bed with apple slices and cashews on top. Hold the cashews.
