On Sunday April 29th, Shrewsbury Youth Lacrosse held a goods drive to benefit Veterans Inc.: a shelter and assistance organization solely for military veterans. SYL collected over 200 lbs of toiletries and clothing at an estimated value of $4,000. Visiting teams from Grafton and Medway also generously participated.

"It was easy, fun, and a great learning opportunity," said SYL's Kevin Nemsick. "Each team spent 5 minutes during a practice leading into that day, talking about what is a veteran, what might their needs be, and how can we help. The charity can be any good one. Veterans Inc. has a shelter in Shrewsbury (and Worcester). The locality was important to us."

Natick and Shrewsbury shared their stories of Community Service with MBYLL, partly because they are proud of their athletes and coaches and their commitment to giving back to their communities, but also because they would like to see what other MBYLL town programs are doing to give back and "honor the game."
