A little background story of the Red Cross. Clara Barton and her small group of friends founded Red Cross on May 21, 1881 in Washington D.C. Barton to work with the sick and wounded during the American Civil War. She was known as the “Angel of the Battlefield” thanks to her hard dedication. In 1865, President Abraham Lincoln hired Barton to search for lost prisoners of war.
