Let it Go

March 2nd marks Old Stuff Day. There is no known origin for the holiday, but it is celebrated in a peculiar way. Instead of showing love or affection to others, you show love and affection to yourself. Old Stuff Day is a time to examine all of your oldest possessions and their significance. It’s also a time to examine your actions and if they need to be corrected going forward. After looking through all of your possessions, it is healthy to let some of it go and hold on to what is dearest.

A helpful activity for the day is clearing out the attic, basement, or closet full of old memorabilia that you feel as though you cannot live without. You can live without it and it is healthy to let it go. Do you really need that old lamp? Are those broken toys and games worth keeping around? After letting go of old things, it is fun to go and surf through thrift shops or antique stores. Old treasures are always waiting to be discovered!

Another activity to engage in is a reflection of your mistakes so far in the year of 2017, what did you do wrong? Has this been a continuous thing? If so, then take some time to reflect on your actions. How can you move forward from the habitual mistake(s)? Make some effective moves in your life in order to make the most out this day. Hopefully, you are able to release the negative and come out a more positive person with concise goals. Have a great rest of the year free of your old baggage and troubling thoughts!
