National Craft Month

In 1994, the Craft and Hobby Association created a month called National Craft month. Crafting is supposed to help people rediscover, learn the wonderful world of crafting, and find inspiration. There is another day which is called “National Children’s Craft Day.” This purpose of this day is to open up the children’s eyes about crafting and bringing awareness to them. This helps them become more creative. It also teaches children to use common household items to turn them into crafts. Another purpose is to get the children off electronics or to stop watching television. When it is National Craft Month, stores hold special art contests and deals. That’s another good thing about “Craft Month”. You can save money!

Here are some crafts for the month:

Knitting can be a good arts and crafts for people. For knitting, you only need yarn and it can be done by hand. There are different kinds of knitting methods such as hand knitting and mega knitting. Knitting can create different pieces of clothing and essentials. Some examples are sweaters and ornamentations. Studies have shown that knitting can relieve stress, pain, depression and strengthen the immune system.

Decoupage gifts are items that are glued with color paper. You can do decoupage with furniture and small boxes. Decoupage uses at least 30-40 layers of varnish and it is sanded so it is polished. There are different types of decoupage such as florentine decoupage.
