No matter what year in high school you are in, you should be thinking about what you want to do in life. Deciding on what you are passionate about will enable you to choose a college that is best set for you. Time flies by quickly and you are never too early to be researching which school might offer what you need to kickstart your life.

As a freshman, you should be exploring the many different career options open to you. One way to do this is through internships. For example, if you are interested in becoming a lawyer, you can look into internships with law firms or law schools. There are also events open to letting you shadow someone working in or studying that field.

As a sophomore, you should continue to pursue these events and internships, especially since a lot more are open to you sophomore year. This is still a time to leisurely explore your career options. But, unlike freshman year, you should be more focused on looking into your favorite college options and researching what they expect of an incoming freshman. Doing this the year before junior year is important because it allows you to go into junior year knowing what you should be aiming for. Doing this earlier allows you to make sure you receive credits for everything you need in order to have the best chances of being admitted to your dream school. One of the worst feelings is missing a deadline, or even worse just barely missing the mark to qualify for admission.

As a junior, you should be geared towards doing your best academically. You want to surpass your grades in freshman or sophomore year. This is your year to truly shine and be the industrious student who wants to go to their dream school. Work your hardest to make as many A’s appear on your transcript, because in the end it is worth it. The higher your GPA, the more money schools are willing to give you. For those worried about paying for school, I recommend private colleges. Although they are known for being expensive, they are also known for providing students with impressive transcripts impressive amounts of money. So, during this year, just remind yourself this, “my grades are worth more than mere admiration of my peers and parents.”

You should also be studying for the SAT. Although it is offered all throughout Senior year, you can take it at the end of Junior year as well. This is highly recommended because you can allow yourself to see your strengths and weaknesses. This will better prepare you for the retake, so that you can score higher. Your test scores also play a huge role in the amount of money given to you. The higher you are able to get your score, the more money they will be able to give you. Do not procrastinate on signing up because you want to be able to take the test at a school of your choosing.

As a senior, you have to be aware of so many things as soon as the school year begins! You must make sure that you write down all of the important deadlines for the schools that you are interested in. If they pass you by, then you simply lose out on that opportunity. If you are one of those students who are very sure about what they want to do, then you should definitely apply for the early admissions application of your chosen school.
