I often wondered back when, how people coped with depression in the 1800's prior to the development of mood altering drugs. The side effects of these drugs prevented me from experiencing my life experiences fully. It actually kept me from being happily excited, and yet they did keep me from being severely depressed. The down side for me was that it took a extended amount of time to find the correct medication and dosage for me.
