Emirates Old Trafford opens its
Gates to Schools
After the success of last year’s Schools’
Open Day when over 2500 children
enjoyed a day watching Lancashire play
cricket as well as taking part in a range of
fun activities in the Entertainment Zone,
Lancashire County Cricket Club Foundation
is once again inviting KS2 & KS3 pupils from
across the North West to come and enjoy a
day out at Emirates Old Trafford on Monday
29th June 2015 when Lancashire play
Northants in the LV County Championship.
Demand is expected to be high with entry
being free for ‘Friends of the Foundation’
member schools and only £1 per pupil for
non-member schools. Spaces are limited
and on a first come first served basis.
There are also some on the day prizes
available for the first few schools to register,
including:
the opportunity to find out more about the
educational opportunities which Lancashire
CCC has to offer your school. We ask that a
teacher from your school comes and enjoys
a relaxing coffee in the Press Lounge of the
Player & Media Centre during the lunch
break where LCCC, LCCC Foundation &
Lancashire Cricket Board staff will be on
hand to answer any questions.
Please contact [email protected] for
more information and booking.
We look forward to welcoming your school
to Lancashire County Cricket Club.
Once registered, full confirmation details including
Event Risk Assessment, Event Welfare Plan and
Teachers resources will be sent out by 15th June
at the latest but in the meantime please use
[email protected] if you have any questions.
Parking will be provided either on site or at
Manchester United FC. We will also be operating a
drop off system at the cricket ground for those who
do not require parking.
• A school will perform the ‘Guard of Honour’
for the LCCC players
Please be aware that LCCC Foundation will be
taking photographs at the event for promotional
purposes.
• Pupils will have a coaching session in the
LCCC Indoor Cricket Centre
Food will be available for purchase on site but you
are welcome to bring packed lunches.
• Pupils will play cricket on the outfield during
the lunch interval
As cricket is subject to the weather conditions we
advise you to check the weather and the state of
play on our website prior to the match itself.
The day will run during school hours with
gates opening at 10am and the
match starting at 11am.
Imovesdance.com has revolutionised how
schools can teach dance across the UK.
These interactive resources have been
specifically designed for any teacher to be
able to teach PE using music and dance.
They have taken away all the stress,
research and preparation time,
allowing teachers to deliver fun
themes and styles they have no
previous experience teaching!
How? The Interactive videos
are designed to use as PART of
a lesson (doing the tricky steps)
the lesson plans help to build
up a theme slowly in bite sized
chunks, allowing lots of wriggle
room for children to do their own
choreography and routines.
The music is brilliant, totally school
friendly and specifically designed
for each theme, its funky and “cool”
so even those year 5 boys will think
it’s great!
The package for primary schools includes
40 different themes and styles from ‘Strictly’
classics to cross-curricular activities, like
The Romans or Stonehenge, delivering 150
lessons of fun activity across every age
group. The resources come with interactive
videos, music, lesson plans, assessment tools
and materials to help you teach. In addition,
the team will also deliver supportive CPD for
schools who require that bit of extra help.
Schools may depart at any
time with the expectation that
most schools will have left by
3pm at the latest, although play
does continue until 5.30pm. As
well as the chance for pupils to
enjoy cricket there will again
be further activities on offer
within the Entertainment Zone
such as Rock Climbing, Bouncy
Inflatables, Cricket Cages,
Go-Karts, Police & Fire Service
vehicles etc.
If you want to trial 4 lessons yourself, log onto
imovesdance.com and sign up for the free
membership. Alternatively, call Imogen on
0114 2661061 who will be happy to explain
how they can support you deliver music and
dance as part of the PE curriculum.
We will also be giving teachers
