T
he Lancashire Cycle Challenge 2015
is back for a third successful year this
June!
Last year, 79 organisations and over 1200
people signed up to the Lancashire Cycle
Challenge 2014, encouraging 385 non
cyclists to try cycling for the first time in over
a year.
This year the competition is coming back
to Lancashire and we’d like to invite your
workplace to take part.
Working with Lancashire County Council,
this challenge has a lot of potential for
improving facilities for cyclists across
Lancashire.
Not only do we have the Lancashire Cycle
Challenge but we also have a national
challenge running at the same time this
year. So, not only will you be in with a
chance of winning some great locally
sourced prizes, but you and your company
will also be entered into a national league
table and compete for some further great
prizes including holidays. This is especially
exciting for those who would like to
compete with other branches of their

So, what is the
Lancashire
Cycle
Challenge?
It’s a free
incentive
based staff
cycling
scheme run
to encourage
and support
employees
to discover
the benefits of cycling. Workplaces across
Lancashire will compete from the 8th to
28th June 2015 to win fantastic individual
and team prizes, including cinema tickets
for those who ride a bike for the first time in
a year.
Your staff only need to cycle once for
a least 10 minutes in the three week
challenge period. It’s not about cycling
the furthest nor about cycling to work. We
just want as many people as possible to try
riding a bike.
T
his year British Cycling will
be delivering the Sky Ride
Local programme right across
Lancashire during the summer months.
The Sky Ride Local programme is a
series of guided rides aimed at families
with rides ranging from 5 to 30 miles.
All rides are led by trained British
Cycling Ride Leaders and many are
traffic free. Full details of rides in each
area can be found at www.goskyride.
com/lancashire. As part of the
programme Breeze rides will also be
taking place right across Lancashire.
These rides are women only fun, social
rides that are arranged and led by
British Cycling Breeze Champions.
Details of Breeze rides can be found
at www.goskyride.com/Breeze.
This exciting County and now Nation
wide competition is going to give cycling
a further push in 2015, building on our
successes in 2013 and 2014 when over
£500,000 in cycle related workplace
improvement grants was given out each
year in Lancashire alone.
