IN SEARCH OF MEGALOD You have probably noticed, if you’ve ever strolled the beach on Manasota Key, that the folks are walking along the sand with their heads down. What are they looking at? What is it that they’re bending down to pick up? It’s treasure. All along the Key are hundreds of thousands of fossilized shark’s teeth. As you look down at your feet you can spot little triangular shapes, ranging in color from shades of light sable-brown to pitch black. Tumbled, millions of years old, fossilized shark’s teeth.
