Since Norwegian Air Shuttle commenced long haul flights to the United States much has changed . At the beginning of their long haul operations ( which started on May 30 , 2013 ) they only operated flights to John . F . Kennedy Fitzgerald airport from Oslo Gardermoen and Stockholm Arlanda airport . Unfortunately at that time the Boeing 787 had major problems and due to this Norwegian had to lease some metal from leasing companies . They leased an Airbus A340- 300 from Hifly and a Boeing 777-200 from Euroatlantic airways . Not only did they have to lease aircrafts but they also had many delays due to the Boeing 787 problems and the fact that the aircraft was new to the company . The flights would operate from Baltimore , New York and Boston to the Islands of Martinique and Guadeloupe . The starting price for these flights were $ 50 dollars one way . Many passengers took advantage of these prices and the flights ended up being very successful for the company that they decided to restart the seasonal service ( their Caribbean operations are only operated in the winter ) in November 2016 and are even adding more frequencies plus adding a new route between Fort-Lauderdale and Guadeloupe which will start on December 17 and will operate 2 times a week .
