before their short-haul flights in North America started service to Las Vegas, San Juan and St Croix from Europe. In August 2016 Norwegian announced that they would be starting flights to Boston from Copenhagen, Oslo and London. In February 2016 Norwegian announced that they would commence flights between Paris and the States. The plan for Paris was very similar to how they started their long haul flights from London with the same destinations but a small change in the amount of frequencies. They started flights from Paris to New York, Los Angeles and Fort-Lauderdale. These flights also ended up being a success and increased their market share in France. In September 2016 Norwegian decided that from June 2017 they will base 2 Boeing 787’ s and commence flights between Barcelona and Fort-Lauderdale, Oakland and San Fransisco and Los Angeles and Newark. Today Norwegian flies to 10 american cities and operates 82 weekly flights to the United States. In 2017 Norwegian will receive nine B787-9s which means for sure more expansions announcements will come within the following months. Many rumors are going around the aviation community on what they will announce next but we will have to wait and see. This is creating a lot of fright for the American and European carriers have been tremendously affected by Norwegian commencing flights to the United States. Prices across the atlantic have dropped by half and have caused Norwegians competitors to have lower loads then what they would usually have. Their competitors will take Norwegians routes announcements very seriously due to the fact that it has already been hurting them negatively in a serious way. United and Delta have announced that for 2017 they will be announcing a“ Basic fare” to try to lure customers back from their competitors. Until now Norwegian cannot be stopped and much expansion from them should be expected. Norwegians success in the United States lies in very low fares and a good amount of quality for the price which attracts many passengers and has been increasing tourism in the likes of Scandinavia and the French West Indies.
