15 Millennia of Ancient History Remembered
Small in the area, big in history. That is how this beautiful Island located in the
North-Eastern part of the Mediterranean Sea is best described. The meaning behind its
name is actually still a bit of debate for some historians.

ne theory is based on the
mythology suggesting that
Cyprus was coined for the name that
was given by the goddess Aphrodite.
Another theory suggests that the coun-
try was named after its abundance of
copper. Furthermore, the Greek word
for the Mediterranean cypress tree

could also be the reason that this island
got the name Cyprus. This debate has
not been resolved up till now and re-
mains a fascinating mystery to both its
inhabitants and tourists.
Cyprus has its own fair share of
famous historical and archaeologi-
cal sites. Neolithic villages, medieval
castles, and ancient Roman ruins
are found easily around the country.
Thanks to its colorful past, the land
has transformed into a sought-after des-
tination, attracting a number of tour-
ists every year.
And what is one of the common rea-
sons for tourists to come flocking to a
country? Food, of course and Cyprus
promises to make you want more every
single time. With its mouth-watering
cuisines to its refreshing drinks, it is
said that Cyprus is one of the finest
