She, like many of the volunteers, do this because they appreciate the sacrifices, commitment and service the Veterans have given to this country. Turner stated, “It allows me the ability to thank them for fighting for the freedoms that me and my family have. In some cases, I can say, “Welcome Home” to a Veteran that may never got to hear those words.” D uring her [Turner] visits with the Veterans, she recalls of a time when she was distributing Girl Scout cookies to three Veterans who were sitting with one another. One had served in World War II, the second one served in Korea and the third in Vietnam. Being able to share in their stories and listen to what they had been through was a gift of historical events. “The history and the conversations with those gentlemen, was incredible,” Turner stated. “May No Soldier Go Unloved” and may the joy of giving of a heart, whether that be handmade, or store bought, the meaning is the same – The gift is giving from the heart.
