Retired Navy Veteran gives back to the community
Mothers and Gold Star Mothers were doing for the troops and wanted to give back.
Bettie Moore, a Volunteer at the Raymond G. Murphy VA Medical Center and a member of Blue Star Mother’s Organization, saw firsthand how his pins really brighten a Veteran patient’s day.
“I can remember the first pin I gave out to a Veteran patient. He admired the colors and felt as if the pin was truly created just for him,” Moore said. “Many of the pins are made to represent the colors of each branch of service. For the Army, Joe makes green and white colored pins, for the Air Force, blue and white and for the Marines, green and red and most pins include a star in the middle to represent the United States of America.”
More recently, Conner has sent a Gold Star Mother flower to the George H.W. Bush presidential library and another to the mother of the late Senator, John McCain. He hopes to continue making these for the Gold Star Mothers and possibly for other groups that support our Veterans. His pin creations have touched many and for many Veterans across the land, the pins will serve as proud remembrances of their dedicated military service.
