The Fisher House is still open to families who are granted exceptions to the NMVA Visitor Policy. Due to COVID-19 precautionary measure, guests cannot be under 18.

Families staying at the Fisher House at this time can include:

•Families deemed essential at the bedside

•Families here for end of life care

•Veterans with disruptive behavior/altered mental status where a support person is critical to providing treatment

•Families who, given the distance they are from the VA, need to remain close to make vital medical decisions

This list is not all-inclusive. Please call the Fisher House staff if you have a question about a family’s eligibility at this time. They can be reached at 505-265-1711 x3180.

After a FH Consult is submitted, the Fisher House Manager will call the requestor to confirm that the family is needed for bedside support. Fisher House staff will then call the family to verify they meet eligibility criteria, which includes a COVID-19 verbal screening. During their stay at the Fisher House, guests must also self-disclose if they have any flu-like symptoms and may be subject to screening if they display symptoms. Guests who show symptoms are not eligible for Fisher House accommodations. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, reservations can only be made during business hours.
