The Roshua Review October 2015 | страница 13

I can’t believe that I am actually writing an article about Travis Scott. I won’t even begin to tell you how much I disliked him. Looking back, it was mostly because I had seen many videos of him doing crazy things and being extremely rude to people. Twitter and Instagram really tainted his image for me. Surprisingly, after several attempts to dislike Travis, I have recently grown to favor him. For the longest time I didn’t really know who he was. However, I did hear his name a lot mainly from Joshua Robinson. Additionally, I saw things on the internet that weren’t very pleasant. When I did finally realize who he was, I instantly concluded that he wasn’t anyone of importance. Originally, I felt that he was too wild and his live performances were trash. In addition to that, the only song that I’d heard by him was “Sky fall”. Still to this day, I feel like this song is over-hyped and annoying. The first performance that I actually sat down and watched by him was on the 2015 BET awards pre-show. To be honest, I liked the song that he performed. The actual performance on the other hand is what caught me off guard. The auto tune was just too much for me. Also, I kept finding myself wondering why he was so hype. I don’t think there is anything wrong with being hype, but Travis was on another level. The dance moves, stage presence, and facial expressions were all at level one hundred. At times I was worried that he was going to hurt himself. Looking back, I’ve realized that maybe being crazy is just how he connects with his audience. September 2015 is when I accepted that his music is actually worth a listen. Rodeo is a really good album in my opinion. It took a couple listens to get accustomed to, but most albums do. As scandalous as it sounds, my favorite song on the album is “Pornography.” What really caught my attention is hearing T.I narrating in the beginning of the song. In fact, I love that part and I look forward to it every time. On a scale of 1-5, I would rate it four. It is safe to say that “Rodeo” is what made me a fan of Travis Scott, and I will most likely continue to like him until he puts out some trash music.
