R&B Music Reviews

from Alexa Byrd

Miguel - Wildheart

This album had a nice mixture of upbeat and slow songs. Wildheart seems to be the most intimate album by Miguel. It isn’t your traditional R&B album. There is blend of many different sounds. I was very impressed with the album as a whole. Wildheart not only had some great love songs but provided a variety of encouraging and positive messages. It gives off summer vibes for me, but I would listen to it regardless of the season. Great production!

Favorite Song: Flesh

Tyrese - Black Rose

I didn’t particularly like this album. There were about two songs that I could listen to all the way through. It gave off a very old sound, which some people might enjoy. I would recommend this to a group of older men who have been disrespecting their significant others & are feeling bad about it. But a pro to it all, Tyrese’s voice sounded really good!

Favorite Song: Shame

Jill Scott - Woman

Woman consisted of a laid back sound throughout the whole album . Jill Scott’s voice sounded beautiful as usual. I feel like she kept things to a minimum while keeping it artistic. However, I have heard better music from her, not that the album wasn’t good. There were a couple songs that deserve a listen. The title of the album is very appropriate. I would recommend the album to an adult/mature audience that is made up of women. Overall, Woman was a decent album.

Elijah Blake - Shadows and Diamonds

Many songs on this album were very catchy. This didn’t give off your traditional R&B sound. But I liked it anyway. It was different and refreshing. I could listen to almost all of the songs straight through. Shadows & Diamonds was solid In my book!
