Forest Hills Drive Tour :

J Cole with Big Sean, YG and Jeremih

From the moment that I finally scooped my tickets to the Forest Hills Drive Tour at the Hollywood Casino Amphitheater in the outskirts of Chicago, I knew that this concert was about to be no joke. With a lineup like J. Cole, arguably one of the most respected rappers in the game, accompanied by hip hop powerhouses such as Big Sean, YG and Jeremih I simply couldn’t expect anything less; and I most definitely was not disappointed. The concert featured not only good music performed expertly, but also striking visuals and production that kept the audience gripped for the all 4 hours of the concert. The evening begun with Cole’s Dreamville artists; Bas, Cozz and Omen, a Chicago native; taking the stage. Though most of the crowd didn’t know their music, they set the stage for an extremely turnt up night, even before the sunset. Directly following them was the one and only YG, delivering hits such as “Who Do You Love” and “My N**ga,” quite clearly hyping up the crowd to maximum capacity. After YG, Chicago native Jeremih hit the stage complete with sexy back up dancers, merchandise to be

thrown into the crowd and love for his city, performing current hits such as “Don’t Tell ‘Em” and

“All The Time” as well as performing classics such as “Birthday Sex” and “Down On Me.” As the

sun set and excitement rose, Big Sean hit the stage with a gigantic set resembling a New York

City block, and had us gripped until the moment he left the stage. Memorable moments from his

set include his finale with “I Don’t F*ck With You,” throwing it back and performing “Marvin Gaye

and Chardonnay,” and when his microphone cut out for a full minute during “One Man Can

Change The World” and the entire audience finished the song for him. After massive set

changes, J Cole finally hit the stage, performing not only his entire album, 2014 Forest Hills

Drive, but his classics such as “Lights Please” and “Work Out.” He even brought out Jeremih to

perform “Planes,” a performance rare for in past cities they did not perform it. The Forest Hills

Drive tour was not only enjoyable, but quite iconic in my eyes. I would undoubtedly say that it

was one of the best hip hop concerts I’ve been to in a while.
