The Roshua Review April 2015 | Page 4

2015 is BIG. Crazy things have happened for Hip-Hop. We’ve lost a major figurehead. We’ve seen crazy collaborations. Tha Carter VI is coming out before Tha Carter V! There are no more rules in this industry. Have an album? Drop it when you feel like it. Want to have a show on a moving truck? Go ahead. In 2013, Jay-Z said that Hip-Hop is like the Wild West, and I don’t even think he fully understood what was in store.

A$AP YAMS

Cause of Death

It's always horrible when Hip-Hop loses one of its members, regardless of how they leave us. On January 18, I like many others woke up to learn that the ASAP mogul was no longer with us. I've never been one that's quick to cry, but his death left a very heavy impact on my attitude that day. Many immediately blamed his death on a drug overdose, but months passed without any word of the cause. Let it be known that by revealing the cause of his death I am not trying to slander his legacy but bring attention to a mistake too many artists have made. The New York Chief Medical Examiner revealed that an acute mixed drug intoxication ended ASAP Yams's life. If it wasn't evident before, I hope the truth is clear to the world now: Drugs are bad; they can destroy lives. It was a shame to lose a legend so early, but he will be remembered through A$AP Mob. Always Strive and Prosper. Rest in Peace Yams.
