Introduction
The Rocky Mountain Elk (Cervus Canadensis nelsoni) are the magnificent elk who are the remnants of a species that once inhabited the United States from the Atlantic to the Pacific. Their habitats have been reduced to a series of national parks and a few wildlife ranges west of the Rocky Mountains, from which they get their name. Elk populations can be found in western Colorado, New Mexico, central Arizona, Wyoming, Idaho, Montana, Washington, and upper California. Here is a short story following a young girl's advantures as she explores her facination of the Rocky Mountain Elk.
