WELCOME TO YOUR WEEKEND Jessica Brown Columnist Jessica Brown is a freelance writer at Rockdale News. She can be reached at jessbrown@ morrismultimedia.com Well, the holidays are upon us. While our jack-olanterns sit in the garbage can at the end of our driveways, we are quickly replacing the skeletons that once adorned our walls with pilgrims and gourds. The mall is playing Christmas carols, and we’re reminded again how close the holidays really are. One thing I love about this time of year is that it reminds us what’s important: family, and the people we surround ourselves with. So whether I’m snuggling on the couch watching my favorite old movies with a cup of hot cocoa or taking a dazzling tour of the lights in at the Botanical Garden, I’m going to try to make sure to give the special people in my life an extra hug and offer them a spot on the couch or an extra ticket. If you’re in the mood to have a night out on the town, Atlanta Botanical Garden opens its doors for their annual holiday tradition, Holiday Nights on Nov. 15th. Maybe you’re feeling wild! Herd your royal rumpus down to the Breman Museum to celebrate Maurice Sendak’s beloved children’s classic “Where the Wild Things Are” and join in the costume parade at the Wild Times at Breman Exhibit on Sunday.
