of Covington saw their
son, Carlos, in Guatemala
during a mission trip and
adopted him in 2001.
Now at 15, he is attending
Young American Christian
Academy and thriving
with interests in music
and serving in the youth
ministry. Kathy, a nurse at
Rockdale Career Academy, and Greg reflect on
their family’s experience.

Rafe and Jenni Mauran grew up with adopted family members and
always knew they wanted to adopt at some
point. The time became
right earlier this year
when they welcomed
home 4-year-old Sela
from Ethiopia to join
their 5-year-old Sophie
and 12-year-old Jackson. Here is their story.
