BESSIE

The HBO biopic “Bessie,” starring Queen Latifah
as the iconic blues singer Bessie Smith who rose
to fame in the 1920s and 30s, will be debuting on
HBO this May 16. Look for homecoming scenes shot
in Olde Town Conyers last July, which stood in for
Smith’s hometown of Chattanooga, Tenn.
