Christmas is almost here!
when I think of Christmas, I
think about the excitement I
had as a kid. We used to have
to wait until a pre-set time to
wake my parents up, but my little brother never could wait that
long. He would start by waking
myself and my older sister up
around 3:30 a.m. (this was in
my pre-coffee days, so it was
never a pleasant experience to
wake me up) and would dodge
pillows in his scramble for the
door. Being the persistent little kid that he was, he’d always
come back, usually half an hour
later and make another plea
to my sister or myself that it
wasn’t really that early, was it?
After waking the slumbering
bears, we would all trek to my
parent’s room where we would
read the Christmas story and
pray. My little brother would
usually be bouncing with impatience at that point. When we
finally released him to go down
the stairs, he’d almost fall from
trying to get down so fast, silly grin intact. He HAD to see
what Santa brought. It was the
wonder of not knowing, I think.
So for the rest of this holiday
season, let’s try to rediscover
that sense of wonder.
There’s a few events around
town to help you get in touch
with your inner kid, like the
Smash Brothers Wii U Tournament, or head to a sparkly version of Six Flags for their Holiday in the Park. If roller coasters
give you a pit in your stomach,
