Tell our readers a little about yourself?
LB: I’m a freelance writer/editor/cover designer/book formatter living in Moncton. I moved to New Brunswick over eight years ago with my husband on a whim. I love horror movies, bad humor, and cheesy films. I’m an avid reader of just about any genre, and I love dogs, rats, cats, and pretty much any animal. My favorite writer is Clive Barker and my favorite director is David Cronenberg. Both have had a major influence on my work. Being an introvert, writing was probably the best career path for me, since I love to spend hours alone making up stories.
What started your love of writing?
LB: My love of writing goes back to early childhood, and my cousin was an early influence there. She encouraged me to write, as did my mother. I’ve been writing since I could hold a pen and form words. I’ve always had a notebook, pencils, and pens at the ready for scribbling down another idea that takes root in my imagination. It’s hard to say what exactly started it, but the obsession took a firm hold after my mother let me write short stories with my grandfather’s old typewriter that he brought with him from England. After that, there was no turning back. I was about eight years old, and I’d just seen The NeverEnding Story, so I went to work writing a tale about a little girl who found a dragon and went on grand adventures.
