Dr. Seuss: The Magic Inside of His Books
By Maggie Cordes
People of all ages enjoy the magic of Dr. Seuss books. His books are
fun to read because they rhyme and are silly, but they also teach the
reader about nature, how to read, about friendship, and about life
adventures. My three favorites are:
There’s a WOCKET in my POCKET!
This is a great book because you will learn to read through rhyming
words.
The LORAX
I recommend this book to all ages, because it teaches you how to keep
the Earth clean and how to take care of our trees.
Oh, The Places You’ll Go!
I enjoyed reading this book because it talks about how you will go to
many amazing places when you start living on your own.
Took
Mary Downing Hahn
By Charlie Baker
Took, by Mary Downing Hahn, is an engaging story about a girl and a boy
that do not want to move to their new home is West Virginia. Their new
house is an old, rundown farmhouse. Their family also does not like the
new surroundings, especially with a doll that they found there. At first,
Daniel doesn’t believe the tales about the witch and her man-eating
razorback hog and bloody bones and other myths. But when his sister
disappears in the woods, he knows that he must face the myths himself to
get his sister back.
This is an wonderful ghost story that is highly recommended.
