You Don’t Have to be Bill Gates
By: Mariam Harb
Success. What success means to a certain individual means something to another.
Success isn't always being better than everyone, but being the best we can be. Having the
willpower to achieve whatever we want to is success. Take Bill Gates, the richest man in
America, has maintained all this success over the years. With determination and focus an
individual can conquer their dreams.
If we wish to achieve something we must have a written or mental plan at hand on how
and what it will take to accomplish it. Things won’t always go as planned, but that’s the beauty
of it. Bill Gates was an intelligent teenage boy who attended Harvard and dropped out at the
age of 19. He had his eyes set on the light at the end of the tunnel and abandoned great
accomplishments, like being at Harvard, to be the one standing under the light. He constructed
the company Microsoft with his friend Paul because that was what he was passionate about. I’m
not saying be a Bill Gates and quit college to build something that might or might not work. I’m
saying achieve something, anything. To be successful and make a difference in the world we
must make a difference in ourselves. Understand things clearly know what we want and begin
from there.
Individual success is fulfilment within ourselves, we determine if we are successful or
not. Someone may see a typical artist that draws normal pictures, but the artist himself might
just call his drawing little doodles. We must know what we want and have a glimpse of where
we are heading to begin our journey. No one ever has the picture fully painted out of their lives,
they have little bits and pieces that they put together. So become successful, in an occupation,
school, or even establishing a family. If one knows what he did is at the best of his ability then
that is success.
