Dunlop Primary News
This session Primary 6 and 7 are going to be working towards their
John Muir award . This award asks us to discover a wild place within our local environment and explore all it has to offer and in Dunlop we are incredibly fortunate that we have so many beautiful spots on our doorstep for us all to discover .
Both classes have started their ventures down to the Millennium Woods . Whilst there , the children were asked to sketch a particular viewpoint , which when back in the class they would paint in watercolours . Their second task was to write down a variety of descriptions , using their senses . These descriptions will be used to create a piece of creative writing . Another activity involved them collecingt a wide variety of leaves . Once they returned to school they used an identification key to categorise our leaves then used EXCEL to create graphs displaying the number of each type .
Lastly , they created wonderful autumn land art inspired by Andy Goldsworthy .
As you drive through Dunlop Village you can ’ t help but notice the wonderful displays of hand knitted and crocheted poppies created by our creative villagers as a mark of Remembrance . After a virtual Remembrance Assembly and a minutes silence many of our classes took time to remember in their own way . Our P6 & P7 classes were asked by our minister to contribute to the village poppy display by painting rocks with the names of all those who lost their lives fighting in World War 1 and World War 2 . We then laid the stones around the war memorial to help keep their memories alive .

The Stewarton Band Support Group would like to give
a big THANK YOU to the Co-op , and all the Co-op members who selected the SBSG as their local cause of choice , for raising £ 1243 in the past year for us via the Co-op Local Community Fund . These are vital funds during this time where our normal fundraising activities cannot go ahead , and mean the SBSG will be in a position to help restart the bands just as soon as it is possible to do so .
We would also like to announce our ' Advent Calendar ' project , where each of the band players will be given the opportunity to record a Christmas tune , and several of these recordings will be posted daily through December to the SBSG Advent Calendar FaceBook page !
