am the Poppy Scotland co-ordinator for Dunlop and Lugton and Joan Alexander is the Poppy Scotland co-ordinator for Stewarton .
In Dunlop and Lugton we formed a group called Dunlop & Lugton Poppy Fairies and we make several large displays of poppies in the villages . Everyone loved them and said they brightened up the village and were fabulous for Remembrance .
I would like to give a couple of people a mention for outstanding contributions to Poppy Scotland - one , Joan Alexander , who made and sold face coverings in Stewarton and raised over £ 2,000 for the appeal .
Joan said “ Stewarton as always have been amazing to poppy Scotland over the last month . I have been overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity of the people of this town . Thank you all soooooo much , this has gone a long way to achieving Stewarton ’ s annual total ”
Once again I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for all that you have donated to Poppy Scotland ..... Lest we forget .
I made them in Dunlop and our local newsagent , Norman Neilson , who has been a supporter and collector for the Poppy Appeal for over 40 years , sold the masks for me in Dunlop and between him and I we raised over £ 1,300 for the appeal by selling masks .
The pictures of our poppy displays are from Dunlop , look at the large ones at the church they were amazing , thirty-three huge poppies , floodlit at night , one for every life lost from the parish during the wars .
