Lainshaw Lions took part through staff , children , and their families in Virtual Nature School . It was a six-week course and was all about looking . Each week was split up into the following :
Looking up Looking down Looking through Looking in Looking at Looking under .
Each week we had to use the headings and organise activities that the children could do either outside in our garden / play area , inside the centre or beyond which was in the community .
On the Monday of the first week the children went outside and looked up . They wrote down what they saw or drew a picture of what they saw , and we used their ideas to make up the activities .

Each week was the same but using the above headings .
Activities such as drawing using sticks as paint brushes , science experiments to find out how roots in plants drink water , making birds ’ nests , learning about the true meaning of Easter were all part of the training . Looking in puddles to see reflections and learning about mud were also good fun . Each week we help the Boys Brigade to look after their community defibrillator , this we brought into our Virtual nature School as it easily helped us to focus on looking in .
The children were so engrossed in what they were playing and learning that it became easier as the weeks went on .
Lainshaw Lions passed and will use some of the activities again in their summer programme .
