Stewarton woman is celebrating the release of her debut children ’ s novel , The Strange and Wonderful Adventures of Pippa , which she wrote while working on cruise ships sailing around the world .

About the Author

Petra Baillie , 27 , who is a primary school teacher , wrote her children ’ s novel during a gap year from teaching to work on cruise ships . While travelling and thinking of home , Petra ’ s heroine is a Scottish girl who goes on an extraordinary quest to an unknown land .
The Strange and Wonderful Adventures of Pippa is a children ’ s novel for age range 8-12 . Pippa is a perfectly ordinary eleven year old girl who finds herself lost in the strange and wonderful unordinary land of Mirilia . Pippa ventures through the dangers and delights that Mirilia has to offer , but Pippa must find her way back home before the evil Queen of Mirilia closes the magical doors between the worlds , trapping her forever …
Petra also has a successful range of picture books for children , such as The Leprechaun who Lost his Rainbow , which is a colourful tale of learning how to share . She has an innovative range of “ illustrate your own ” books which gives children the opportunity to express their own creativity , such as Danny the Dinosaur and Feelings That Are Funny , which gives children the chance to express emotions they find difficult to articulate .

Petra Baillie has a joint honours degree is Psychology and History and later went on to gain her Post Graduate Diploma in Primary Teaching . She delivers virtual author visits to schools around Scotland .
