Summer is here and it is picnic season ! Join us for a picnic on Sundays after the service ! You will need to bring a chair or picnic blanket and some food ! Come for a catch up and ( if you want ) some games ! Check out our Facebook group for times , place and all the details .

helping the homeless

Thank you for your gifts to East Ayrshire Churches Homeless Action . EACHa is an ecumenical charity whose aim is to work together for the benefit of the most vulnerable and marginalised members of our community . In the past year EACHa has distributed 1436 food parcels , each with enough food for two days . Also 375 packs of essential toiletries for people presenting as homeless . Donations are always welcome and can be brought to New Laigh Kirk hall in John Finnie Street Kilmarnock on Mondays , 9am till 12noon . Especially welcome are non-perishable food , toiletries , cleaning materials , cutlery , pots and pans , towels and bedding . Thank you !

We are working on arrangements to re-open our halls to welcome back the many community groups and organisations who depend on them . The Cottage drop-in will also re-open after the summer holidays . Please keep an eye on our website and Facebook page for the latest .

Men ’ s Health Week focussed this year on mental health , and we ’ ve been thinking about the pressures on guys - work , home , friendship , media . Our 21st-century world can be relentlessly exciting or demanding depending on how you are feeling . But who better to look to for an example of how to handle life ’ s pressures than Jesus . Jesus was fully human but also fully divine - God in the human brain and body he made - so living life without sin , but with limits and challenges of being human , just like us .

We are following government guidelines and have a socially distanced service on Sunday mornings led by the Rev . Eddie Simpson , there is no need to book a place , as when restrictions were at their tightest , just come along at 11am you will be made very welcome .
MESSY CHURCH
Messy Church continues to be available on the St Columba ' s Messy Church Facebook page on the first Monday of each month . There have been a variety of activities on themes including Easter and Our Community . The children made a garden on a paper plate , iced biscuits and found a quiet place to pray .
Our Community was based on the parable of the Mustard Seed . Activities included growing a plant from a seed , making a mini golf course based on some landmarks in Stewarton . Here are some pictures that were sent in .
HOLIDAY CLUB
This year again there will be no holiday club in the hall in July , but I will put up activities for a week which children can dip into when they can . Photographs can be sent to me at annettewad @ aol . com . Thanks again to Suzanne Clark for her help with IT .
FOOD BANK
The food bank is always looking for donations of foodstuffs as well as toiletries , if you can help , please make donations in the boxes at each entrance to the church . Thank you for your continuing support

We thank you for your kind donations and please be sure that those in need do too .
The last few months have been quite difficult , but you have managed to serve local people and you have done it well , so we thank you for that .
If you are thinking of donating , currently we are short of : rice pudding , custard , cereals , coffee and some basic home requirements like toilet cleaner , laundry liquid , disinfectant spray / wipes and washing up liquid . However , the situation is always fluid and any donation is gratefully received .
If you are in need , Stewarton Food Bank is open on Tuesdays and Fridays from 4:00 to 6:00 pm . We prefer that you make an appointment by phoning : 01563 550951 . However , if not , please just come to the door .
