Death and Destruction: the ukraine By Alexx Rose V iolence in the Ukraine worsens. Putin, after gaining the Crimean peninsula wants to take over Ukraine as well. The Ukraine has broken out in protest. Over the weekend (May 2nd-3rd) over 40 people, mostly pro-Russians were killed in the port city of Odessa. They were forced to burn alive when the building they were hiding in was set on fire. The U.S. along with Europe are putting emphasis on warning Russia not to interfere with free elections. Many believe Russia is to blame for the violence in Ukraine. The Ukraine is more rapidly heading toward a civil war between anti-Russian Ukrainians and proRussian Ukrainians. In an effort to get rid of the pro-Russians people have started to attack and take over government buildings in about a dozen cities. On Sunday pro-Russians stormed a police station demanding the release of detained comrades. Ukrainian government reported some progress however the violence continues. R 9
