Muirhead Plant fundraiser for
MyName5Doddie foundation
S
et up by Scotland Rugby international Doddie Weir who is now suffering from
MND.
What a fantastic day was had by everyone on the 2nd January for the "Field
of Dreams" Tartan Touch 7s Tournament. This was the idea of Stuart Muirhead of
Muirhead Plant to both celebrate his 25 years in business and importantly to raise money
for MyName5Doddie.
Twenty teams took part in
the rugby providing some
great games and with digger
driving, goal kicking and
rowing challenges and also
lots of kid’s activities - there
was plenty to keep everyone
entertained.
S
DG performed an in-house production in
the intimate community theatre we have
created in our premises in the Scout Building,
Corsehillbank Street. Performances were Thursday
20th and Friday 21st February at 7.30pm and
Sunday 23rd February at 2pm.
The audience were treated to a selection of comedy
sketches featuring performances from Walter
Findlay, Johnnie McPherson, Dee MacColl and
Paul Glasswell followed by an enjoyable quiz and a
short comedy play, directed by Nancy McPherson,
with a cast of Caren McLean, Jim Goldie and
Walter Findlay. The event included complimentary
drinks and nibbles, including home baking at the
Sunday afternoon show, and a raffle.
Lots of great feedback on our Facebook Page.

The rugby was won by
Biggar defeating Nether
Robertland/Stewarton in
the final but the highlight of
the day was undoubtedly the
"Heavyweight Hurdle"- 8
"top class athletes!" careering
over an obstacle course -
won easily by Big Jim Curry !.”

But most importantly the 1200 spectators that attended had a great day and through
everyone's generosity raised £9000 for Doddie's Charity.
A Huge thank you to everyone involved especially the players, referees, helpers and the
organising committee of Fiona, Douglas, Neil, Stuart and Abby. A brilliant day!
