the music box - fun music & drama
The Music Box is a fun music
and drama group for children
from tots to teens, and as always
is ready to welcome both new
and returning members to our
next term.
We're really proud of our Friday
class (age 8-12) who put on a
wonderful Christmas show last
year and are now gearing up for our next big event - a sing-a-thon! Thanks
to CCG group's generous donation to community projects in Stewarton,
we will be running another "Spring Sing Day" on Saturday, May 30th
which will be FREE to attend! In the past we have had great success
learning songs throughout the day and performing them in the evening for
friends, family and the wider community, so we're really excited to be doing
this again. Music Box membership is not required but we ask that you
contact us to book your slot, to help us with preparations.
Following on from this, we will be having another show on Friday, June
19th in which our class members will get the chance to perform the play
and songs they have been working on. All are welcome to attend.
We have not yet cast parts yet so any interested new members still have
time to join in, although casting will be done soon. As well as rehearsing
for the play this term, the class members will be honing their drama skills
with fun drama games and activities. Class Fridays, 6-7 pm Stewarton Area
Centre, Avenue Street.
Our Saturday class (suitable for ages 3 to 7) has been learning about music
and drama through songs, games and learning to play simple percussion
instruments. Saturdays, 10.30-11.30, Stewarton Annick Centre, Standalane

Dancing down under!
Y
ou never know where Highland Dancing will take you. Rachel,
assistant teacher with the school, was taking a break in Australia
and New Zealand, where she has also attended some competitions.
At the South Queensland Championships, Brisbane she gained a
championship point. At the New South Wales State Championships,
outside Sydney, she was 5th overall. This result was a personal best at on
open championship and was accompanied by her winning the restricted
national competition. Her winning continued at the Lilydale Show
near Melbourne, where she won the Trophy Fling, Trophy Flora and the
overall trophy.
The Australian dancing
community has welcomed
her into their family, inviting
her to join in with some
local dance classes as well
as showing her some of the
more local sights. New
friendships made because
of her love for Highland
Dancing.
Rachel also competed
at the Whangarei Show
north of Auckland, New
Zealand, in December
where she placed well
in all of her dances
including a first place in
the Jig
