Kids bring a decorated egg for the competition and egg rolling. There will then be breakfast back at John Knox church hall. Everyone welcome! Community gets behind life-saving project Stewarton folk have put their support behind a charity project to save lives in the area. St John Scotland’s group of volunteers in Ayrshire & Arran have been working with the Stewarton Boys’ Brigade to raise money for a Public Access Defibrillator. The device was purchased and installed late last year outside the John Knox church on the High Street. Since it was put in place, the groups have held a training event [22 Feb] where more than 50 locals came to learn how to do CPR and watched demonstrations of how to use the defibrillator should they ever need to. Chair of the local St John Scotland committee, Rose- Ann Cuninghame, said: “It was great to see so many people of all ages come along to learn about cardiac arrest and how to do CPR. We had lots of people who had seen the defibrillator installed and wanted Volunteers teach locals CPR and demonstrate the use of a defibrillator at the training event in Stewarton to find out what it was all about, and they were surprised to see how easy it was to use. Thank you to all the volunteers who delivered the training, and to everyone who came along to learn how to save a life.” Following the successful event, the volunteers are now raising money to provide another Public Access Defibrillator in Ayrshire. St John Scotland are hosting a fundraising coffee morning on Saturday 14th March at St Columba’s Church Hall in Stewarton from 10am – 12.30pm. Tickets cost £3.50 and can be purchased on the door or by contacting 01560 484050. step up to stewartons walking football sessions Through vibrant communities I have become involved with the Walking Football session on a Friday morning at the Stewarton sports centre. We start about 11.15am to do a wee warm up before getting into games and then do a wee cool down at the end of the session. If your over 50 male or female, everyone is welcome and still want to keep fit and have fun, and fancy a kick about on a Friday morning come along and join us. It's a fantastic way to socialise and you don’t need to have any experience in playing football, it's rather straightforward and the guys are a great bunch to get along with and very welcoming.
