Stewarton Annick FC Girls keep on growing !

Interest in our football teams from girls just continues to grow . From being formed in August 2019 we are now getting near to having 100 girls taking part in weekly football activity .

Our oldest age group are our U14s girls who are playing 9v9 for the first part of this season . The girls are keen to transition to 11v11 and are looking for a few more players , born 2008 / 2009 , to add to their skilful and committed squad .
Our U12s are our biggest section supporting three teams , one playing 9v9 and two playing 7v7 football . We would also like to welcome further girls born 2010 , 2011 , 2012 into this fabulous group .
Under the SWF restructure of the girls game this season , our U10s section will support two teams with 2013s girls beginning to play 7v7 and our 2014s girls playing Super 5s . There are opportunities for further girls of these years to birth to join also .
Our very youngest age group was formed just in January . We have had huge interest from girls born 2015 , 2016 and 2017 . Unfortunately , we have had to limit the number joining . We are keen to get as many girls in as possible and we would be delighted to hear from parents or oth-er adult volunteers who would like to commit to midweek and weekend coaching activities .
In a new venture , we are trying to get girls across the age range 13-18 playing in weekly recreational games . We understand that there might be many reasons ( e . g . part-time work , school studies , other activities ) why girls might not be able to commit to team based football . We are offering a weeknight session which is relaxed ( no formal coaching ) and fun , with the girls just turning up and playing a match . PVG checked
adults will be present to hand out bibs , footballs and to get the games going . We hope that these sessions will attract both girls who love playing football and those that have never thought of playing before ! Our Social Soccer sessions start Thursday 3rd March , 7.15-8.15pm on the multisports pitch at Stewarton Academy .
We would like to gratefully acknowledge the support of Stewarton Initiatives in approving our recent application and providing a grant to help support formation of the our youngest group and the 13-18 Social Soccer .
Going forward we want to continue to grow the girls section as much as we can . With the suc-cess of the Scotland Women ’ s National Team and the growth of the Scottish Women ’ s Premier Leagues , football is capturing the imagination of ever greater numbers of girls .
