1st Stewarton Boys ’ Brigade

After finishing 2020 with face meetings for all sections we are now back to virtual meetings weekly for each section . We have been planning for return of face to face whenever that may be and we will have a blend of indoor and outdoor activities dependant on what suits each section and of course in accordance with regulations .
As far as highlights are concerned , we are still working for badges and the main highlight is the progress towards some of the Senior badges the boys are working for . We have 6 boys who despite the restriction have been working towards their President Badge ( Which is the second highest awards boys can work for ). We also have 1 boy who is starting out on his Queens Badge journey , with the Queens Badge being the highest award boys can work for . We also have 9 boys who have worked through COVID and restrictions and are now in the latter part of completing their Queens Badge , which is going to include an online Completion course . The boys work hard for these badges and in times of COVID and associated restrictions we have a hard-working committed group of boys who have worked through the changes of everything that COVID has put in our way . This would bring Stewarton ’ s Queens Men up to 87 in total with the first being awarded back in 1985 .
Great news we have had recently is that during a National Competition run by Scottish BBHQ and all boys were invited to recite a poem by Rabbie Burns . Great news is that our own Luke Baird entered for the Junior Section Competition and was 1st . Well done Luke !

20th ayrshire scout group

Unfortunately because of lockdown , we

are not able to meet face to face in the
Scout Hall but Cubs meet virtually on a Thursday night and Scouts on a Friday night . Wednesday Beavers last face to face meeting was for their Christmas party just before lockdown . Since then Beavers have been given weekly tasks to complete at home which will go towards their badges . Some of the programmes have been making frisbees and celebrating Chinese New Year and Pancake day . They have also taken part in Ayrshire East District Scavenger hunt challenge which was open to Cubs as well . This should result in a badge and certificate .
The Scout Group would like to thank the Stewarton Community for supporting the Santa Run which was different from past years because of restrictions .
The Group are desperately in need of New Leaders or helpers when we open up face to face again . All Sections Beavers , Cubs and Scouts require help so if you can give up a little of your time we would be very grateful . We are one of the largest Groups in the District and need to give our youngsters good exciting programmes . Training will be supplied . We will meet up with interested people on a Zoom meeting to discuss this . Please contact our Chairperson Suzanne Clark on suziebodie @ aol . com . Thank you .
