stewarton allotments keeps growing
2021 sees the growers at Stewarton Allotments enter their 10th growing year . What started off 11 years ago with a few local residents wondering if there was a demand for allotments , has grown year on year into a much loved place for members to grow their own vegetables , fruits , flowers and friendships . The number of plots has increased slightly over the years as we have utilised more of the land we have and also the division of some larger plots to allow us to bring in new members to more manageable sized first time plots . Since the early days we ' ve had a healthy waiting list and this carries on through to today , however we always welcome new applications .
Over the past year our members have appreciated how lucky they ' ve been able to continue tending their plots in these uncertain times . Members are able to socially distance whilst still preparing their plots , tending to the growing vegetables and harvesting the fruits of their labours and some exercise whilst performing these tasks .
We ' re hoping to be able to hold an open day again in August this year providing we ' re allowed and hope to be able to invite everyone in to take a look around our beautiful allotments .
Dunlop Alzheimer Circle of Friends – News Update
During the lockdown
many people have been taking the opportunity to go walking around Dunlop and the countryside . There has been a fantastic show of snowdrops and it reminds us that Spring is just around the corner and hope for a better year .
Now that the covid vaccination is going well and hopefully you will all have had your first jab ( maybe your second ) and staying safe . The new “ roadmap ” for coming out of lockdown has been announced by the Scottish Government . This is exciting news but obviously depends on many factors .
Circle of Friends have been told that the Village Hall will be available for hire for community groups by the end of the summer . This means we can start to plan and schedule events for the start of the Autumn , providing restrictions have been lifted . We will keep you informed once we have more details .
We have missed our monthly meetings and all our guests who come along and make the afternoons so special . Hopefully this year we will meet up again .

Stewarton United Monthly Draw
We have decided to give a monthly lottery a go to get funds into the club with the aim of reducing the costs to our players .
It ’ s £ 5 per person , names will go into hat and 3 prizes will be drawn out .
If we can get enough entrants , we are hoping to have the below prizes on a monthly basis .
3rd Prize - £ 20 Taj Bar & Kitchen Voucher 2nd Prize - £ 50 cash prize 1st Prize - £ 250 cash prize
During these times we would rather not deal with cash so ask each participant in lottery to set up standing order for the 15th of every month for £ 5 and the draw will be made on the last Saturday of that month .
