Community Larders help people on low incomes or recovering from crisis by offering dignity and choice in exchange for a small yearly membership fee . Cutting food costs means people are better able to manage other debts and outgoings . The Church have been providing food on a regular basis each Monday night to people in need through Fareshare and Neighbourly initiatives . Without a building of our own the local community centre offered us a space to continue with this project during this pandemic . They also offered a storage space which we have now converted into a Community Larder . We are very aware that there is more of a need now of food poverty being an issue , that is not going away , and with people off sick , furloughed or made redundant due to coronavirus , more people are struggling than ever before . We felt that we should add to our Monday evening deliveries by opening a community larder . In addition , to the Stewarton Foodbank we will support local families in the town . The larder is open every Saturday from 6 February 2021 between 10am – 12noon at the Centre , Standalane Stewarton . Information on debt , housing application forms , universal credit will be available as needed . People looking to support the larder can bring food such as tinned and dried foods , long life products and similar to The Centre , Standalane on a Monday evening from 7.30pm until 9.00pm . Basic toiletries and household cleaning products are also welcome . We would like to thank the people below as the larder would not be here had it not been for the help of a huge team of volunteers and generous givers ... The Centre Committee - for free use of the hall and the storage area . East Ayrshire Council for a grant to help put it together and for their continued support .
