A different type of Christmas night out
As all of you reading this will no doubt be aware , COVID
stole Christmas . Not only did it dampen our spirits , but it ruined one of the most anticipated nights of the year : the work ’ s night out .
Enjoyed by companies up and down the country , it ’ s everyone ’ s chance to let loose and celebrate all the hard work they ’ ve put in this year . Plus , it ’ s a good chance to see some of your colleagues embarrass themselves !
This was exactly what a few of the Solutions on Demand team did this past Christmas , although not in the usual way . You see , with the help of The Cook School , everyone at Solutions on Demand gathered round their laptops and took on the role of master chef .
After a few cut fingers and a lot of swearing ( thank goodness for the mute button ), most of the team managed to cook something resembling a three course Chinese meal . Despite the lack of experience from some people , everyone was pretty pleased with their efforts and enjoyed duck spring rolls followed by sweet and sour chicken . It was then finished off with rice pudding .
Thanks to the brilliant – and very patient - instruction of the Cook School chef who had to put up with us that night . The way in which they have adapted and thrived during the COVID pandemic is admirable and the experience is a lot of fun .
We look forward to doing it in person in future .

With a professional chef guiding you through the cooking process via Zoom and all of the ingredients delivered to your door , the only thing standing in the way of the SOD team and a delicious meal was their cooking skills . It ’ s fair to say that while some thrived , others did not . Some reported their kitchens looking like there had been a food fight , while others lacked even basic culinary knowledge .
