our publications department has been focused
on innovation and quality
journalism. Over the years
the transition from generic
newspapers has progressed to high quality design and exciting feature photography and writng. Today we are proud to
embrace this trend with the release of our newly designed
magazine. We hope you’ll enjoy the thoughtful and engaging
articles, in addition to the vibrant look of each page. We have
put hours of hard work in to this magazine and we believe
it shows. This is Ralston Valley’s magazine; this is your magazine. R

his past November it was announced to the school that
all parking passes are officially sold out. This is a problem that
is going to affect everyone. This means
even more traffic getting out of our poorly designed parking lot that never had RV’s potential capacity size
in mind when the school was built. It also means that all
students who have not yet gotten their license will be unable to park at the school. Why not park on Alkire? Who
wants to park that far away, and what happens when Alkire
is full? Some serious change will have to be made. Possibly
a restructuring of the parking lot in is line. There are plenty
of spaces where new parking spots could go. The large grass
field in front of the school for example. It receives little use
except at movie on the field and it creates more harm than
it does good. The far end of the field bulges out and only
allows for barely two lanes of traffic to escape the parking
lot at a time. With only a slight reduction of this field, easily
fifty new parking spaces would be available, which would in
turn create more revenue for the school, while at the same
time decreaing the cost of watering the field. But what
will it take for this change to be made? When the very last

parking space is full and
there is no more parking
on Alkire? When parents
and students are up in arms
about the lack of parking? Only time will tell, but
the unfortunate truth is that a
change might never be made. This is because it is only a Ralston Valley issue and if it doesn’t
affect all of Jeffco then little change will be made.
