A Clash between the College and the Boys' School

First up, on Saturday November 16, 2013, St. George`s College came out the looser from a difficult encounter with Wolmers High. Wolmers hit home first with a goal by Demar Rose (26th minute). George`s scored in the 31st minute, but a bit of bad luck led to an "own goal" from STGC player, Oshane Boothe, in the 35th minute.

In the second half, the match became even more heated. Spectators were fed with a fantastic meal as both teams continued with countless, superb attacks. St George`s came up with a goal by Oshane Boothe in the 77th minute to bring the game into extra time.

During extra time, a goal from 40yds out was scored by Captain, Ryan Miller. Wolmers replied with yet another goal. Some brilliant saves by our Custodian, Cordell Irving, kept George`s in the competition, and substitute, Martin Davis, aka Spaniard, came back with a brilliant toeing of the ball into the goal. Unfortunately for us, Wolmers replied with a goal from a corner to tie the game. This pushed the game into the dreaded penalty kicks. We lost the game in fine style. We played like galiant Knights, and despite the goal differnce we can say to our team, "job well done - the dragon was slain!" STGC Good and True Galiant the boys in the white and blue!

Under 14 played Pennwood high where they came out 3-0 winner, and this is where they saw last year Valencia Camp winner Jeremy Verley show his talent and why he won it, with a 40yard stunner.

And the Under 16 played STATHS and starlet Alex Marshall helped them to a 5-2 win. STATHS scored two brilliant goals that come not have being stopped by our keeper Omar Mclean.

TENNIS

Last week St. George`s took part in the Mayberry Investment Limited Tennis Champion. On Friday they lost to Campion 4 matches to 0 in the Under 19 section.

And on Saturday in the Under 15 section they came out 3 matches to 0 matches looser to Hillel Academy, but there was some doubles success as they won some matches. It was once again a very disappointed tournament and we do not know if it is a lack of quality players or is there a change to be done in the coaching staff.

BASKETBALL

The Basketball Team won their match against Tivoli on Friday, November 22, 2013.They won by a huge margin 68-14.They showed a brilliant performance, showing great character and teamwork, but anyway it was an impressive encounter. Coach Mr. Brown motivated the team all the way to lead to a wonderful victory. GREAT VICTORY St. George`s.
