An exhibition of Peter Howson ’ s work is on display at the Baird Institute , it brings together a selection of artworks on loan from Flowers Gallery and the East Ayrshire Council Collection in association with The Cumnock Tryst . The FREE exhibition runs until Saturday 4 December .

Peter Howson has established a formidable reputation as one of his generation ' s leading figurative painters . He is renowned for his penetrating insight into the human condition , and his heroic portrayals of the mighty and meek .
Howson has derived inspiration from his personal experiences - from the inner-city streets of Glasgow , to time spent in combat zones as a former official British war artist ( Bosnia , 1993 ). His paintings have tackled the horrors of modern day atrocities and the depths of the human psyche , with an unflinching gaze . His work is testament to an obsessive occupation with the dark recesses of existence that has since developed into a strong faith and spiritualism .

The Open Door Club unfortunately remains shut

Due to the “ COVID ” affecting our lives at the moment The Open Door Club must remain closed !

There are so many rules and regulations to follow . We would be responsible for wiping every table / chair that we touch . We would need to take a name and a contact number on entering the hall , the rules just go on and on .
As we are a club for the 60 ’ s Plus – we could not take this on . We wait in anticipation to see what 2022 brings , in the meantime keep safe and well .
We will post on Facebook and let everyone know when The Open Door Club can Re-open .
