When it is a bookshop ! A recent Parliamentary report highlighted the value brought to UK society by bookshops , not just as retailers but also as placemakers , community hubs , and cultural spaces .

Author events have been very well received , and on national BookShop Day , six locally connected authors held sessions throughout the day . The interactive children ’ s events especially were a joy to watch .
The Book Nook Stewarton may not have been open very long , but owner , Sarah Frame , is striving to fulfil these wider roles and see The Book Nook become an integral part of our community in Stewarton .
Over the last few months , The Book Nook has held a number of events , workshops and competitions .
The undoubted highlight recently was the event with the renowned Robin Ince coming to give a talk and sign copies of his new book , The Importance of Being Interested . Robin is well known as a TV and radio broadcaster , comedian and most notably as co-host of the popular Radio 4 show , The Infinite Monkey Cage , with Brian Cox . Robin gave a hugely entertaining talk , greatly enjoyed by the 60 plus attendees at the event , hosted in the lovely new venue , The Vennel . Music by Liam Doyle Music was also a real treat and made it a lovely way to spend a Sunday morning .
The Junior Book Nook Club encourages and rewards children ’ s reading . Each child receives a reading log and gains Certificates of Achievement at bronze , silver and gold levels as they progress . It is lovely seeing the children excited to receive their certificates .
The adult book club , BookNookers , is flourishing and we enjoy great social evenings as well as discussing the books chosen as book club reads . New members are always welcome !
Do pop into The Book Nook Stewarton for a browse and blether , and see the great selection of books available . The children ’ s range is soon to be enhanced as The Book Nook is now an official stockist of the award winning Tonies , an audible experience for children which enables them to listen to stories and play with the characters- and all entirely screen free .
Thanks to everyone who has welcomed and supports the addition of a local independent bookshop to our town and the more people that use The Book Nook , the more events we can offer for the community .
