It was great to see many of our local businesses , organisations and councillors take part in our series of ‘ Change Climate Change ’ community events in October and November . We looked at some of the personal choices we make that can have an impact on climate change and what we can do to decrease our carbon footprint . While these things are important we saw that there is far more that needs to be done if we ’ re going to meet climate targets . There were lots of creative ideas that could help make Stewarton more sustainable – e-bike and e-car sharing , e-cargo bikes that local businesses could share for making deliveries , planting trees in our gardens and green spaces , shops encouraging refilling containers and using paper bags , litter-free initiatives , creating a safe active travel network , improving community planning , energy efficient new housing , a repair hub instead of discarding products and reducing food waste by sharing surplus food . East Ayrshire Council ’ s James Lally and Andrew Kennedy spoke about the Council ’ s draft climate strategy and consultation on tackling the challenges of global warming to give East Ayrshire a clean , green future . Visit east-ayrshire . gov . uk to have your say . Contact us if you would like to be part of a climate action group in Stewarton getconnected @ johnknox . org . uk
We are looking for any new volunteers to get involved with the club and join our committee , if you have any time you can volunteer , please get in touch with us We have roles that anyone can help with , we are looking for people to run our social media pages , help run the touchline on match days , and many other tasks .
We ’ ve also had a few queries regarding our annual fundraiser the Stewarton United Beer Festival . Current restrictions are making this very difficult to plan so we have made the decision that we will delay the Beer Fest until our normal date of the second Saturday in June which will be 11th June 2022 . Obviously tickets purchased for 2019 will remain valid for 2022 . When we know more details we will let everyone know , thank you for your continued support . Please follow SUFC Beer Festival on Facebook and SUFCBeerFest on Twitter to keep up to date .
