dunlop alzheimer circle of friends – news update

Now that we are into autumn we should be dusting off the

cobwebs from our Halloween costumes for the Alzheimer ’ s Halloween party . Unfortunately there will be no witches or dooking for apples , so you will have to keep your costumes for next year .

Stewarton Community Allotments

Lockdown afforded the members of Stewarton Community

Allotments some extra hours to work on their plots this year .
Government advice was that allotments were one of the few outdoor activities that we were allowed to do during lockdown . Many members saw other hobbies and pastimes removed from their normal weekly activities so many of our members spent more time tending their plots . As a result , the site has looked fabulous all summer long .
With Covid-19 and the government restrictions Circle of Friends cannot restart until it is safe to do so and restrictions have been lifted . We miss our monthly meetings and all our guests who come along and make the afternoons so special .
The beginning of August saw some flooding across some of our plots when the Annick overflowed slightly into the bottom of the plots , but the excess water drained off and by the following day the plots were back to normal .
We are looking forward to restarting in 2021 when restrictions are lifted . Exciting plans for next year are in the pipeline and we hope that you will join us for good fun , good company , music and dancing and a good laugh . Just the tonic we need !
We hope all our friends are well and stay safe .
Unfortunately , due to restrictions our members were saddened we were unable to hold our open day in early August this year and didn ' t get to share our site with people of Stewarton . We managed to sell a few dahlias and perennial plants through social media posts and we ' d like to thank those that took advantage of some fabulous deals on plants .

And the winners are ...

Friendship always at Dunlop Alzheimer Circle of Friends .

The 20th Ayrshire Scout Group

We are in the process of getting our Group ready to start face to face Scouting outdoors and indoors . This is difficult because of our large numbers of young people but we hope to get things moving next month . We are desperately in need of new leaders for all sections , Beavers , Cubs and Scouts so if you have been involved with Scouting in the past or just feel you can help out please contact our Chairperson Suzanne Clark on 01560 486809 . PVG and training will be provided . Beavers have been working on line during lockdown with activities to help them gain their badges . They have just completed the Unicorn badge given out by Ayrshire East District .
Although we had no open day , we still held our annual competitions , this year ’ s winners were :
Best Plot 2020 - Rhona Wilson Best Newcomer 2020 - Mary Cotton
