1st Stewarton Boys Brigade

Our session for 2020 has started differently

from what we would have imagined this time last year . Currently we do not have access to our normal accommodation ( The Church Hall and also the schools for Friday Night lets ). This is obviously a changing situation but what we have done is arranged temporary accommodation between The Centre in Standalane and the United Reformed Church in Lainshaw Street .
The format of our new nights will be different . We need to consider social distancing , sanitising regime and a strange experience for everyone which is activities with masks for staff indoors and also for boys of 11 plus . We are keen to progress with the company activities . As things change which they might well do , we will go back to zoom meetings as we see fit and we will follow regulations and be outdoors as required . We will stay as active as we can bearing in mind regulations through BB and Church , but most importantly keeping our boys , staff and parents safe .
With over 100 boys on the roll the challenge has been what we can do in this space available . We have a series of activities arranged by BBHQ for social distancing and safe face to face activities for all sections .
Before being allowed indoors we had arranged Anchor Boys and Junior section to attend an outdoor programme . This has included visits to the Woods , the park and also play area in Standalane where our Juniors had a games evening . Our biggest challenge with a visit to the Woods was the week where it rained all day and it then continued to rain all evening / night . The 4:30 Anchor Boys got the blunt of the heaviest rain . 6 O ' clock Anchor Boys and the Junior Section although it still rained heavily the conditions under foot turned the paths into rivers and the grass into marshland , and it was safe to say do one finish dry that night .
The positive was that all boys involved had a great time just walking , and having fun getting wet and splashing in puddles .
One thing we have learned is that we have a loyal bunch of boys and parents who have supported the Company and our activities since the lockdown in March .

Kilmaurs Youth Group is back up and running !

The Kilmaurs youth group is

back and runs on a Tuesday evening 6PM to 8PM at the sports cage behind Benrig avenue until we can get back into the community centre , where it will go back to its original time of 6.30pm to 8.30pm , sessions are still 50p . I ' m afraid that no one has currently signed up for this group yet but it ' s with myself as the senior youth worker and my colleague who are running the group and it will be with the same activities that we ' re already running at stewarton .
